Our New Year's Special is now streaming!

We're ringing in 2022 by playing the songs that were featured in our New Music Bin in 2021.

Every week we pick five new releases, and each gets about a dozen top-of-the-hour spins during the next three weeks before settling back into our big, big mix.

We're playing our 2021 picks - in random order - from 6pm New Year's Eve until Noon on New Year's Day (Eastern Standard Time).

Join us for a great variety of current music, including lots of indie artists. As always, our stream is free and commercial-free!

New for 2020: Daily episodes of The Detour and The Birch Street Bistro

Our daily program lineup now includes two specialty shows that reach beyond our already large playlist. Both were formerly Sunday-only shows.

11pm Eastern Time / 8pm Pacific Time / 0400 UTC

We take a left turn off Birch Street to explore a different musical landscape. Each show starts with a few selections from a batch of new releases by indie artists. After that, we veer off in all directions, checking out more new music and digging up deep tracks from past decades. Rock, prog, electronic, shoegaze, ambient, jazz, experimental - any kind of music can turn up along the way!

Noon Eastern Time / 9am Pacific Time / 1700 UTC

Grab a snack and a drink and settle in for some music on the softer side. Mostly singer-songwriters and acoustic bands. Mostly indie artists, but some big stars drop by sometimes. Occasionally some relaxing electronic, ambient, jazz and other styles mix in. Each show starts with a few selections from a batch of new releases by indie artists.

Special episodes of both shows will join our archive of past programs available for listening on-demand on Mixcloud.

Find more details - including our current lists of featured new music, links to archived episodes and their tracklists, on our Detour and Bistro pages. Check the navigation bar at the top of our website for links to both shows and to our Mixcloud site.

Take a ride with us on The Detour - Every Sunday

Ride along with us for an hour each Sunday as we depart from our usual big mix of new and classic rock, pop, folk and more - and play an even bigger variety of music!

We call it "The Detour."

As we turn off Birch Street and try out some back roads, we hear more indie and unsigned artists, more deep tracks, more hard-edged and experimental sounds. We might hear some classic jazz or some new alternative music that hasn't found its way into our general playlist.
See what we played on recent shows.
The Detour happens every Sunday at 5pm Eastern time (Montreal, New York, Miami) - and repeats with some slight variations at 11pm Eastern time.

Those times are 2pm & 8pm Pacific Time (Vancouver, Los Angeles) and 2100 Sunday & 0300 Monday UTC.

Ride along with us -- and then give us your feedback! We welcome suggestions for music to add in future shows.
